Set aside Saturday the 15th of August for the next Workshop on Spiritual Values. This promises to be a real opportunity for you to delve into the question of how to apply them to your Scouting Program. It is open to all Leaders and Rovers and Scouts over 16 years of age.

The Program includes visits to a number of Worship Centres that will help us to appreciate the variety of approaches to God that are incorporated among the various religious communities around the world.

You should indicate your choice on the Registration Form and we will do our best to include them in the program. Registration closes on Wednesday the 29th of July, ’09.

The Golden Rules

Teach your children the Golden Rule and the world will thank you.

Do you realise that all religions in the world have the words of the Golden Rule in their language and this constitutes the heart of Spirituality.

Some examples of this.

The Holy Bible. Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets.

Buddhism. Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful.

Islam. No one of you is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself.

Judaism. What is hateful to you; do not to your fellow man. This is the entire law: all the rest is commentary.

Sikhism. Do not create enmity with anyone as God is within everyone.

There are many more examples of these, which show the truth of the words and their universal application to all the world’s peoples.
