Get Active! The Communications and Technology Team meets every Friday night at the Peter Hughes Scout Communication Centre, 2 Gibbs St, East Cannington. Visitors are always welcome. It’s wise to call first to make sure we’re not off somewhere else that night.
Amateur radio License Courses are conducted by us several times a year. They are in your programme planner. Booking is essential. Courses will be cancelled if there are no enrolments. Courses are available to Scouts, Venturers, Rovers and Leaders.
Venturers – Consider taking an Amateur Radio License Course with us for your Pursuits 1 or 2. You will emerge with a new set of skills, a real qualification and if you so desire, a new hobby. Contact BC Communications to discuss how you can use Amateur Radio to gain either Pursuits section of your Queen’s Scout Award.
Rovers – What do you know about Amateur Radio via Satellite, or setting up and running an APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) – it’s a project we have on our “list” but we need someone to take it on. The Branch Communication and Technology Team could provide a Project opportunity for you. You could even play with the radios – we’ll let you.
Scouts – we can offer you a Foundation Amateur Radio License Course you can book direct with us as an individual – you don’t have to go through your Troop. We also do electronics kit assembly – you can book electronics activities as a troop or patrol.
Contact for all enquiries and bookings: BC Communications and Technology, Bob Bristow, phone 95746626.
