JOTA-JOTI 2009
16-17-18 October

For information about JOTA and JOTI, visit www.scouts.com.au

You should by now have received the JOTA-JOTI 2nd Bulletin dated 24th September. If you havent seen it, you should ask your Group Leader, or download it from HERE . It contains helpful information for a sucessful JOTA-JOTI.in your group.

I am very interested to hear of your JOTA-JOTI plans. The Chief Commissioner, myself and the Swan Patrol members will be visiting JOTA-JOTI sites around Perth, so to make this happen for your Group, I need to know you're operating. You can notify me of your JOTA-JOTI activity by email bc.communications@scoutswa.com.au.

JOTA and JOTI will be operating at the PEter Hughes Scout Communication Centre, cnr Gibbs and Welshpool Rods, East Cannington. If your group isnt doing JOTA-JOTI, don't let the youth members miss out. Tell them about it, and if they want to go, their parents can bring them. Or they can go as a patrol. Just tell them and let them decise for themselves. Similarly, EVERY person can do JOTI from home, however you must give them the opportunity by giving them the information.

Some important things to remember for the JOTA-JOTI weekend in W.A.:

1. Badges are available now at the Scout Store. Purchase these BEFORE JOTA-JOTI so you can give them to Scouts as they attend.

2. The National broadcast with the address by the Governor-General, the Chief Scout of Australia, is at 1300 hours WST on the WIA linked repeaters:

VK6RAP (Roleystone)146.700MHz, 439.800MHz, 53.800MHz
VK6RMW (Near Collie) 146.900MHz,
VK6RBN (Busselton) 147.350MHz,
Relayed on 14.116 MHz
Echolink VK6SH

If you dont have the facilities to listen to the broadcasts you can download the recording of the speech from www.scouts.com.au - look for JOTA-JOTI under the International menu item.

3. The State broadcast, with the address by the Chief Commissioner, is at 2000hrs WST, on the WIA linked repeaters as above, and relayed on 3.564MHz and on Echolink VK6SH. As this programme is broadcast live, a recording won't be available. Try using a scanner to pick up any of the frequencies mentioned.

4. Register your group's activity at www.jotajoti.org - do this BEFORE the activity. Take a look at the information on the National Website.

5. Advise me, at the email address above, of your activity so we can visit as many groups as possible.

6. Make it fun for yourselves and the youth members.

Good luck with your activity. And remember - tell others in your District what a great time the Scouts had at JOTA-JOTI.

Information about JOTA-JOTI is available year-round at www.scouts.com.au
