Notes * * February ** 2010A NEWSLETTER FROM SPIRITUAL DEVELOPMENT |
THE SUN COMES UP – A NEW YEAR BEGINS At the beginning of a New Year we ask, “What is in it for us?” Well the first thing is to welcome home from the Jamboree the Scouts and Leaders who took part in this great activity. From all reports there was much to enjoy, as well as a number of things to come to terms with, by this we hear there were problems with some of the meals that caused concern. But in true Scouting tradition all this was overcome and everyone enjoyed themselves. Congratulations. The Spiritual Development Committee met on Thursday the 21st of January to begin planning for the months ahead. Welcome to a new member, Geoffrey, who came to help with the work of Spiritual Development. The primary concern was for the Workshop on Scouts Owns, originally planned for the 20th March. This has been replanned for Saturday 10th April. An Information Paper and Registration Form can be obtained by clicking HERE for a copy. |
What are they and How can we make them interesting to Scouts is the line to be taken.

A PRAYER FOR THE WORKSHOP Our God, we seek to know what it means to make Spirituality very real in our Scouting life. We believe it is in thinking about our God, in whom there is the very Foundation of our Religion, and our Spiritual life. God, we believe that spiritual development should bring people together in fellowship, and not divide them from each other in separation or conflict. With those of other religions help us to understand what it means to really understand and put into practise what we discover about our relationship with You and others. Guide us in this we pray, and lead us to become one people in our daily life. Amen. |
FOUNDER’S DAY AND YOUTH AWARDS PRESENTATION This will take place on Sunday the 21st of February at the Government House Ballroom. Many will be taking part and it will be a good time for members to begin the year in a new way. All the members will be giving thanks for the service of Peter Walton whose leadership concludes on this day. Also we offer prayers for Peter Birch who becomes deputy Commissioner for three months. May the Committee who are searching for a new replacement for the Chief Commissioner be graced by God in their endeavours and soon have a name to present to the Movement. |
WISHING ALL LEADERS AND THEIR SCOUTS, GOOD SCOUTING AND INTERESTING PROGRAMS IN THE YEAR 2010. |
